We are thrilled to embark on the inaugural chapter of what promises to be an exciting blog series.
At Sweets & Smiles, our mission is clear: to champion various organizations and foundations in reaching their annual objectives. Our journey begins in the enchanting town of Burzaco, nestled in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we've chosen to extend a helping hand to a local chapel. Our initial connection was with the remarkable Marisa, a dedicated individual who not only oversees the chapel's dining room but also serves as a catechist. Over the past 12 years, Marisa has been a steadfast pillar in the community, offering sustenance and support to over 173 families in the neighbourhood.
Marisa sought assistance in acquiring 173 backpacks filled with school supplies for children ranging from reception to the final year of secondary school. Upon learning of her needs, we promptly sprang into action. In less than 48 hours, we successfully gathered the 173 backpacks required for these eager learners. Once the goal was attained, we dedicated ourselves to organizing and personalizing each backpack, tailoring them to the specific grade level of each child, eagerly anticipating the day of delivery. Finally, on February 21, 2024, we celebrated the realization of our first dream on the list. Our visit to the chapel provided us with the joy of meeting Marisa in person. In addition to managing the soup kitchen and coordinating community collections, Marisa wears the hat of a catechist, considering the chapel as her second home. In one of our insightful interviews, she shared, "It is difficult to put into words the feelings that come with serving those who have the least."
Our achievement surpasses the mere provision of school supplies to 173 families; it has yielded countless smiles, expressions of gratitude, and warm embraces. We've sown seeds of hope and faith throughout the community, demonstrating that dreams can indeed come true. Our efforts have not only inspired Marisa but have also ignited a spark in everyone around her to persist in believing in a brighter future.
